Women Are Like Merchant Ships

Women Are Like Merchant Ships

Thinking about the strength and courage of a wise woman, we know that all of our help comes from the Lord. In Proverbs 31:10-31, the scripture talks about a virtuous woman who is priceless. What caught my attention after reading and hearing this account many times was the merchant ships in vs. 14 which implies that a wise woman is on the lookout for deals, savings, opportunities for her household at all times. Sometimes it takes her a long way from home, but the results of her travel will be a blessing to her husband, children, family , and friends.

1. Merchant ships must have a captain- A true Christian mother has Jesus Christ as the captain of her heart and home.

2. Merchant ships are guided by a compass- A true Christian mother guides her lives and homes by the Word of God.

3. Merchant ships endure the storms at sea- A true Christian mother has divine protection when storms threaten the welfare of her children.

4. Merchant ships head for the harbor to unload their cargo- A true Christian mother brings those around them into the safety and security of Christ. They want their children to be prepared for the waves of life.

5. Merchant ships keep nothing for themselves- what they carry is for others to enjoy. They are unselfish and sacrificial, always looking out for the good of others. (Quotes from All Women of the Bible- Herbert Lockyear).

My prayer for you is that the women of The Open Door Church of God in Christ-Detroit would be as these wise women; As merchant ships doing the work of the Lord. Our home is where we live, but our church is where we worship. We want to be on the lookout for anything that would enhance our House of Worship. A man’s home without a woman’s touch is a bachelor pad, but after the woman comes in, she brings color, texture, light, flowers, candles, plants into the home. We are wise women called to action. It’s our time and our season to use what God gave us for the upbuilding of his kingdom.

May God bless and keep you and Happy International Women’s Day 2025!
