Lady Missionary Shernetta Evans

First Lady

Lady Shernetta Evans is an anointed psalmist, a woman of prayer, and a true God-given vessel of healing and help. Lady Evans is the First Lady and co-founder of The Open Door Church of God in Christ-Detroit and wife of Administrative Assistant, Alan R. Evans Sr. She is saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost, since the age of 19. She was brought up in holiness under the leadership of the late Pastor Dan Brown here in Detroit along with her family. In 1971, the late Overseer, Superintendent Lorris Upshaw and the late First Lady Mother Nellie Upshaw, were called into pastoral ministry and began Christ Temple COGIC on Detroit’s eastside. She served faithfully as a drummer, van driver, and secretary, until she married the love of her life on October 6, 1979, and then began serving with him in ministry at New Maclin Temple until her husband was called into pastoral ministry in 1992.

God has used Lady Evans as a conduit of healing. She has prayed and laid hands on many who have been healed from cancer and other illnesses. If you know her you know that she is a precious jewel, the definition of a worker, and one-of-one.

Currently she serves in various areas of ministry such as administration, missions, music, and executes well the tremendous job of President of the Women’s Department. Although the role of First Lady has been her most challenging and rewarding title and job, she cherishes her role as wife, mother, and grandmother the most. She is the mother of 4 children and grandmother of 6 beautiful grandchildren. Most of all, Lady Evans wants everything she does to lift another and bring glory to God!
