In these unprecedented times it is important that the members of the church remember their identity. We are in this world but not of this world. We are the Ecclesia or Ekklesia, in the Greek it means the principal assembly of ancient Athens during its Golden Age. Qahal or Ekklesia, a theocratic organizational structure in ancient Israelite society.

We are the lord’s representatives in the earth, and we must understand that we have been given a spiritual assignment. Our assignment while on the earth is not to be like the world, but to demonstrate before the world a different lifestyle. That lifestyle is not after the manner of the world. As we sojourn through this world. We are citizens of another country, or as the Nelson’s Illustrated Bible Dictionary says, foreigners. 

Foreigner: A person whose citizenship and loyalty belong to a different country. The “foreigner” (or “outsider”) mentioned often in the Bible was distinct from the “Sojourner.”  The sojourner belonged to another nation; but, unlike the foreigner, he came to live (or sojourn) for a period of time away from his home country, perhaps taking on some obligations and enjoying some privileges in his new land.

Do not get too attached to this world. Colossians 3:1-4 says, “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.”
